A Little This, A Little That...

How gorgeous is this photo of Grace Kelly? Such effortless Style and Glamour...I long for a return to the days of 'Old Hollywood Glamour' where people actually 'dressed' for events (traveling on a plane, parties, church, etc.), made an effort on their appearance, and most importantly were well-groomed.

Speaking of is this as a follow-up to my In Love With...Dotted Dresses post? I came across this photo of Elizabeth Taylor in a polka-dotted dress...absolutely stunning! Her beauty never ceases to amaze and astound me...

I am still cleaning, sorting, and decluttering in preparation for my rummage sale this coming weekend. It has been a slow going process, but I am getting it done little by little, at least, and all rooms are done in the house except for the master bedroom and bath. I hope to complete both of them today if all goes well. :)

If you haven't already heard, there are some New Arrivals added to the J.Crew website. You can check them out here...let me know what you think. I'm not planning on much shopping right now, but I do think the Gimlet skirt in Coastal stripe (not a new arrival today though) is pretty cute and would like to give it a try. Has anyone seen this or tried it on IRL? I'd love to hear what you think about it. :)

Thanks to Royaltygirl (check out her fabulous blog here), I am now following Kate Spade New York on Pinterest. The company recently joined and has 8 colorful boards of inspiration right here. I also have my own Pinterest inspiration boards and would love for you to join me. You can either click through the 'Follow Me on Pinterest' tab in the right sidebar, or simply click here to find me. :)

This Chocolate Wasted Cake is one of the recipes I found on Pinterest recently...this has to be a chocolate lover's ultimate dream cake! I haven't tried it personally, but if you're interested in making one yourself, you can find the complete recipe here

Here are a few photos taken on our recent trip to Legoland Florida with our Homeschool Group. My boys absolutely LOVE Legos and are quite the little 'master builders' themselves. I'm sure you can imagine how thrilled they were to visit the 'Land of Legos' was really a very fun-filled day, and we look forward to another visit soon.

Speaking of Legos...I found these little characters hanging on the door handle of my frig when I went to fix lunch one day last week...they are part of the Lego Pharoahs Quest. We are studying Egypt in our lessons this year, so these Lego guys (and their sets) were one of the items on the boys' Christmas lists.

Remember this Milly Dress from my You Had Me At Hello... post last week? Well, it also comes in this beautiful Grass Green...I really love the pink included on the dress. (Pink and Green is one of my favorite color combinations). The Lourdes Tank dress is high on my wishlist for I'm just not sure which color to get. What are your thoughts?

Tuesday was my second-born son's 8th birthday. It seems like just yesterday that he was a baby and now he's riding his little dirt bike...time really does pass by so quickly.

So what have you been up to lately? Have you checked out the new arrivals at J.Crew? Do you ever visit Pinterest for inspiration or recipes? Have you found any good sales or deals recently? Please do share...I'd love to hear from you! :)

  1. Your dotted dress post had me looking yesterday. I love it with the leopard shoes.

I did try and purchase the Gimlet Skirt in Coastal Stripe. I love it and it will be perfect for my trip to Europe this summer. You can see it on my blog, .

  2. We love Legoland too. Our boys are 11 & 13 and the older one has outgrown legos-for now. He was obsessed with them for years and our little guy had a birthday party at the local Lego Store one year, and a Lego party at home the next year! You should have seen the "lego" cake I made. It was a mess but the kids LOVED it.

We've been to Legoland in Carlsbad, CA several times as DH's brother and family live in San Diego. It is my favorite theme park. So clean, fun, safe and I adore mini-land! Your photos are great.

Congrats on your 8 year old's bday. My 12 y.o. is really 11 until 2/1 but he insists that he should already be 12. Kids!

  3. Hi FFM,
I love polka dot dresses too and I need to go back and look at your picks. Love the one on Elizabeth Taylor.
Happy Birthday to your cute boy!
Did you like the pirate show at LegoLand? Family connection: my Uncle is a producer and he created that entire show, it is a copy of the one in California which was the original.
I love the silk/linen henley tunic in modern red in the new arrivals, but ouchy price. I like the Gimlet skirt too and would like to see a review. Maybe I'll get up to the Toronto store next week!
Good luck with your cleaning and sorting, it will be so great when you are through with it!

  4. BTW-I'll follow you in Pinterest-I'm Julie B :-)
    Saw this yesterday and immediately thought of you;
Familiar Find to the new slingback Valentina -

  5. Great post and pics! My 3 boys are very similar - LEGOs, home schooled, dirt bikes! I must get them to Legoland - although looking in their rooms I feel we LIVE in Legoland! Started following you on pinterest - great style you have!

  6. audreybella: I love the Gimlet skirt in coastal stripe on you! I also think it will be perfect for your upcoming trip to Europe. That is so exciting! When are you going?

  7. JulieStyles: Thanks! We had been waiting for what seemed like an eternity for the park to open, so the boys were beyond thrilled to finally get to go. Mini-land is also one of my favorite features of the park.

The Kate Spade top is fabulous! In fact, the entire spring line looks very promising. I am starting to save money now to buy a couple of the pieces that I know I definitely want. :)

Thanks for the familiar find...I'll include it in next week's edition. :)

  8. Dani: Oh wow! How exciting about your uncle! The pirate show is fantastic! Do you think your family will get the chance to visit Legoland here to see it? It isn't too far from your in-laws...maybe next time you visit them?

Please do try the skirt if you get the chance to visit the store in Toronto. After seeing how lovely it looks on Audreybella I am even more interested in it. Now I just need to determine which size to get. If you can, try on both sizes 0 and 2. :)

  9. Elizabeth in MO: It's great to 'see' you again! Yes, your house sounds just like ours. Take a look at this quote I repinned recently: true is that? :)

I know your boys would love Legoland and hope you all get the chance to visit someday soon.

  10. The quote is SO true - love it! Yes - I am a constant lurker but a seldom commenter. I receive so much fantastic insight and inspiration from so many of you wonderful bloggers, I really do hope to comment more often!

  11. Ah, FFM, I am with you. I would love to go back to the time when everyone dressed to go to dinner, to church, everywhere.

I just got off a plane a few hours ago. I always dress to travel, even though travel these days is like being in a herd of cattle!

  12. You just reminded me of JCrew. I'm off to check out their new collections.

    Happy New Year gorgeous.

  13. I travel to the UK several times a year. Usually on the way I wear a pretty skirt with a full skirt lining and cardigan. By the time I fly home I am exhausted and wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt in first class. I actually got more compliments on my IOWA sweats from the head stewardess b/c she knows the university! I am so happy we live in an age that allows both super casual wear or super sloppy sweats!! No way would I ever want to go back in time.

  14. Terrific work! That is the kind of information that are meant to be shared around the web. Disgrace on search engines|Google} for no longer positioning this post higher! Come on over and visit my site . Thanks =)
