Product Review: Sorel Winter Fancy™ Boot

The Sorel Winter Fancy™ Boot comes in two colors - Grizzly Bear/Black (pictured above) and Black/City Grey.

The Details from the Sorel and Nordstrom websites read:

An updated duck boot cut from stamped rubber and waterproof full-grain leather features a cozy fleece lining for warmth when the temperature drops. I purchased my boots in February of this year when we moved out here to Montana. From the moment I pulled them out of the box and slipped them on it was immediate love. They are not only super adorable, but also incredibly comfortable and warm. So much so that I wore them on an almost daily basis until it started warming up at the end of May.

The boots do an excellent job at keeping my feet dry, and have great traction so that I do not go slipping around in wet and/or icy conditions. I find them to run slightly large. I normally wear a 9.5 but ordered a 10 based on online reviews, as well as knowing that I would be wearing thick wool socks with them. I have extra room in the size 10 even with thick socks and could have worn the 9.5. However, even with the added space in the boots, they are still very wearable and do not fall off of my feet at all, but if I were to order them again, I would get the 9.5's.

Earlier this week I took them out to wear again for the first time this fall season. We had lots of rain and temps in the lower 40's, but my feet were dry and toasty warm .

Here's my OOTD pic for that day from my Instagram page...

  1. Those are cute and look cozy but they don't look fancy. That's a funny name for them!

    1. I agree cate...not sure why they named them fancy. They are incredibly cozy and comfy though!

  2. You're the only one who has written a comprehensive review on these sorel boots! I just bought the taller Winter Fancy II boots as I heard Sorel did a good job. But as I was looking at reviews later on, people said their sorels weren't waterproof, not as warm, didn't have good traction etc. Others said they loved theirs. It freaked me out because these were $220 without tax so they were pricy and I didn't want to have regrets. I live in Canada so sometimes we'll be shin deep in snow. Do you think these can be great winter boots I can keep for at least 3 years? Lastly, thank you sooo much. This review was really helpful.

    1. Hi Anon in Canada! I am so glad to hear that you found my review helpful! Congrats on getting the Winter Fancy Tall boots! I have seen them in person, and they are gorgeous. I have only had my short boots since February of this year, but have worn them extensively with no issues whatsoever. My feet have not gotten wet or cold anytime I've worn them out and about. The quality seems to be excellent, and I foresee wearing mine for several years to come. Of course, I cannot say for certain how long any of them will last, but I think they will be good for at least another couple of years. I read that they are under new management, and some of the reviews are saying that quality is slipping across the board on their products, but I have not seen that myself on the various Sorel boots I've tried. I do believe that they offer a one year limited warranty on their products, but would suggest calling CS after the year is up if anything were to go wrong with them. Not sure if they would be able to fix or offer a replacement, but it's always worth a try, IMO. That's what I plan to do, although like I said before, I do not foresee having issues with them. I think I'll still be wearing them years from now. Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions! :)
