Cooking Simplified: Easy Meatloaf

I came across this meatloaf recipe a couple years ago, and it has since then become a family favorite. Honestly, my boys LOVE this meatloaf, and are absolutely thrilled every single time they find out that I'm making it for dinner. Of course with a house full of boys (one who's a teenager), plus my husband to feed, I always triple the amounts on the recipe, and rarely have any leftovers.'s THAT good! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ›’

Easy Meatloaf

1 1/2 Pounds ground beef
1 egg
1 onion, chopped
1 Cup milk
salt to taste
pepper to taste
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. mustard
1/3 Cup ketchup

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, onion, milk and bread crumbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste and place in a lightly greased 9x5 inch loaf pan, OR form into a loaf and place in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish. (I personally like to make the sauce below first and add about a 1/4 cup of it to the meatloaf mixture.)

3. In a separate small bowl, combine the brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup. Mix well and pour over the meatloaf. (I always make extra to pour on the slices, too.)

4. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour or until center is done.

That's it...super easy to make and incredibly delicious!
Let me know what you think if you decide to give it a try! :)

Simplified Style @ The Farmer's Market
✨ Throwback Thursday ✨ - a trip to the local farmer's market back in 2014. ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿฅ™๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿž๐Ÿ’

The local Farmer's Market is held in the downtown district every Friday morning from May until mid October, so I often go to browse the merchants' stands, pick up fresh vegetables from the local farmers, and to enjoy the fresh homemade baked goods.
It's really a fun time, and a great opportunity to meet the local merchants, talk with them each week, and see what new items they might have brought with them.

๐Ÿ’ฅ#flashbackfriday... a few years ago, I found this Star Wars gem from my elementary school days tucked away in a box with a handful of other childhood memorabilia.

It's a folder with Princess Leia on the front and Luke Skywalker on the back, made in 1977. As you can see, my love of Star Wars began at a young age, and it still continues to present day.
Now I get to share that love with my boys, too! ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŽซ๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŒ˜๐Ÿ’ฅ

Anyone else remember when the movie first came out that year?
Did you get to see it on the 'big screen'? Such fun times!!! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ˜Š

This is another photo taken during a trip to Yellowstone back in August of 2013.
We had left the park earlier that morning, and were making our way to Cody, Wyoming via the North Fork Highway. It was another beautiful day with crystal clear blue skies, mile after mile of gorgeous scenery along the way, and the views from atop the mountains were absolutely breathtaking. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿš™๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ—บ

Manicures. Cute Helmets. & Plexus.

✨ Manicures. Cute Helmets. & Plexus. ✨ It's true. ๐Ÿ’•

I have been using the Plexus Triplex System for just shy of 6 weeks now. The system is a combination of Bio Cleanse, ProBio 5, and Slim supplements. It works in three ways to remove, restore and rebalance your body to help get your digestive system back into balance. It can also help support weight loss for people who struggle to lose on their own.

I began taking Triplex due to severe back, leg, and knee pain, digestive issues, tons of stress, name it. Triplex works to help detox and rebalance your body, stabilize your blood sugar levels, and reduce cravings. I have experienced significant increase in energy level, better moods (less emotional ups & downs, even with my Marine being gone for so long), a decrease in my aches and pains, plus now I am losing inches, too. I haven't even changed my eating habits, sometimes I eat more calories than normal, but I have still lost. Best of all, I do not have the 5 to 7 pound weight fluctuations every few days like I suffered with before. It is such a relief to no longer be on that roller coaster! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽข๐Ÿ’—

I know there are many of you that are skeptical... trust me, so was I. Then I finally decided that I really had nothing to lose by trying the product (with the 60-day money back guarantee), yet I had everything to gain if it worked. And you know what? It did, and it does! That's why I'm sharing this with you again.

Don't let your skepticism hold you back from experiencing a better quality of life. ๐Ÿ’•

Cooking Simplified: Crock Pot Sante Fe Chicken

Hello my lovelies! I hope you are all doing well and having a wonderful week so far!
Today I am re-sharing a slow cooker recipe for a dish that I make on a regular basis...
Crock Pot Sante Fe Chicken.

This dish consists of slow cooked shredded chicken with corn, tomatoes, and black beans served over rice or in a bowl with nachos on the side. It's topped with chopped scallions, fresh cilantro, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and you can even add a dollop of salsa for extra added flavor if you like. It is very kid-friendly (my boys love it), freezer friendly, and gluten-free. ๐Ÿ’•
Made as is, the recipe yields 8 servings, but you can adjust it to make more or less depending on the size of your family and personal needs.

24 oz (1 1/2) lbs chicken breast
14.4 oz can diced tomatoes with mild green chilies
15 oz can black beans
8 oz frozen corn
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
14.4 oz can fat free chicken broth
3 scallions, chopped
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp cayenne pepper (to taste)
salt to taste

Combine chicken broth, beans, corn, tomatoes, cilantro, scallions, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, cayenne pepper and salt in the crock pot. Season chicken breast with salt and lay on top.

Cook on low for 10 hours or on high for 6 hours. Half hour before serving, remove chicken and shred. Return chicken to slow cooker and stir in. Adjust salt and seasoning to taste. Serve over rice or tortillas and your favorite toppings.

That's it. Easy peasy...
the result is an incredibly delicious meal that the entire family is sure to love! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ˜Š

Simplified Style - What I Wore...

What I Wore...

This is an outfit I wore last fall, and one that I will undoubtedly be wearing again this year.
Why am I reposting this you might ask? Well...the booties are on sale here (in all 3 colors) for a crazy good price, so I wanted to share the deal, as well as a styling option for them with you!
The booties are super comfortable and excellent quality, so grab your pair now. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Details...

*Free People 'Not Your Brother's' Utility Jacket in camo. I absolutely adore this of my absolute faves, so very comfortable to wear, and goes with just about anything. I normally wear an XSmall in Free People, but sized up to a small in this jacket for more roominess in the shoulders, and the ability to wear more layers underneath.
Similar, less spendy option here.

*L.L. Bean Signature Merino Crewneck Sweater in gunmetal gray heather. Another love for me...I also own it in navy, and would love to get the camel this fall, as well. The sweater is excellent quality and soft against the skin. Sizing may run a tad large, although I ordered my normal XSmall, as I do with most items at L.L. Bean, and it fits perfectly through the shoulders, with just a touch of slouch through the body for a comfy, relaxed vibe.

*J.Crew Point Sur Japanese Denim with Cashmere Jean in Lynndale Wash - these pop back on the J.Crew website on a regular basis, so snatch up a pair if you get the chance.
They are very soft and run true to size...highly recommend. Similar here and here

*Monet Silver Hoop Earrings - classic and chic.
A definite 'must have' staple jewelry item for any woman's wardrobe.
This pair look really nice, too.

*Etsy Tiny Silver Cross 14" necklace.
Prior to this necklace, I had also purchased a gold cross necklace from the same seller, and have been very pleased with both items.

*Sundance Letter Charm on a 16" silver chain.
Hands down one of my favorite jewelry pieces that I own.
The letters available are starting to get limited, so be sure to order quickly if your desired initial is still in stock. I honestly wish now that I had bought several more of the charms for Christmas gifts before the letters I needed sold out.

*Brighton Braided Black Leather Bracelet - this is a really pretty, more dainty piece that my mother gifted to me, and I normally wear it on the left arm with my watch.
Similar here and here.

*Etsy Black Leather Bracelet with Silver Hook - this is a really well-made piece that is more substantial than the Brighton bracelet, and I normally wear it by itself on my right arm. Similar.

*Brown & Black Studded Leather Belt with Silver Buckle -
(purchased at a consignment shoppe in Whitefish two years ago) - similar here.

*Baggallini Medium Pocket Crossbody in Taupe/Dusk -
purchased recently at TJ Maxx - similar here in Portebello.

*Eileen Fisher 'List' Bootie in Dusk. Absolutely adore these booties! They are high quality, incredibly comfortable, and the heel height is very wearable for extended periods of time, too. Trust me, you will love them! ๐Ÿ’•

Simplified Style... J.Crew Icon Trench in Plaid Italian Wool

I don't know about you, but I am really, really ready for Autumn to arrive. Summer has outworn its welcome, in my opinion, and I say to Fall...Bring. It. On!!! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’•
Since I am in a 'give me cooler temps' kind of mood lately, I thought I would share one of the outfits I will be wearing this coming fall season...
Simplified Style... J.Crew Icon Trench in Plaid Italian Wool

The Details...

Shop It...

*J.Crew Icon Trench Coat in Plaid Italian Wool - such a classic, gorgeous plaid coat done in subtle, understated tones of navy, olive green, & a gorgeous burgundy/rust shade. This is one of those coats that never goes out of style, and will be a true investment piece that you'll wear for many years to come. I purchased mine last year, but hopefully they will bring it back again this year for anyone who missed out on it then. In the meantime, you can always check Ebay or Poshmark in hopes of finding one there. Similar option here, as well.

Sizing: In my opinion, the sizing runs smaller on this one than it does the majority of coats and jackets offered at J.Crew over the past couple of years (it fits me the same as the Icon Trench Coat from 2010). For this reason, I would suggest sizing up at least one size for best fit (especially if you have broad shoulders), unless you are very small on top. I normally wear a 0 or 2 in coats and jackets at J.Crew (depending on the style), and the size 4 plaid Icon fits me well. If you're still in doubt as to which size you should choose, you can contact J.Crew Customer Service for exact measurements. (Give them the item number from the product page, and they should be able to look them up for you, even with the trench being sold out.)

Warmth: As far as the warmth factor goes, I would consider this a fall or spring coat for those of us in colder climates, although if you layer a sweater underneath you may be able to get away with wearing it in colder temps, especially if you're just going from your warm house, to a warm car, to a warm office, store, etc. The lovely ladies living in the south, however, are more than likely able to wear the coat throughout the entire winter.

All in all, I think it truly is a really beautiful investment that I am looking forward to wearing again this year, and many years to come.

*Eileen Fisher Plaid Flannel Crop Wide Leg Pants - beautifully done subtle plaid on the pants, making them a more neutral piece to wear with a large variety of colors.
Eileen Fisher clothing tends to run large, so consider sizing down one size from your norm if you're trying out her line for the first time. EF clothing does tend toward the spendy side, but more often than not the quality warrants the higher price tag, plus it is usually possible to score the majority of her clothing at really great sale bookmark the links!

*Michael Kors 'Camille' Gold Watch - similar less spendy option here.

*J.Crew Pavรฉ Link Bracelet - this truly is a classic piece that will be worn for years to come.
It's also 50% off today with code YAYSALE at checkout btw, so snatch yours up right away.
I've had mine for many, many years and wear it at least several times a week.

*Dooney & Bourke Python Embossed Leather Small Satchel -
for those interested, I reviewed the handbag here back in 2012.
It's sold out now, but it looks like there may be a couple for sale on Ebay.
Dooney is still using the same embossed python as my bag, but in a different silhouette here.
Similar bags here and here in tawny port, as well.

*J.Crew Lucite Heels in Velvet -
I was surprised at how much of a neutral the ash grey velvet color is in person.
They really are a very versatile shoe, not to mention quite comfortable.
The color of the velvet pairs beautifully with the bag, and the lucite heel compliments the reddish shade in the plaid of the coat, too.
The heels are currently sold out, but they do keep popping back up on the website in various sizes, so if you're looking for a pair keep checking this link, the J.Crew sale section, or call a store and ask them to check inventory for all the stores to see if anyone has them in your size.
There is a similar J.Crew shoe option available now in tawny sand.
It's also 50% off today with code YAYSALE - that's an absolute steal!
This pair also looks nice, and the cameo rose colorway appears as if it would be a perfect neutral. These are cute, too.

Are you ready for Autumn and cooler temps? Any particular items in your wardrobe that you're looking forward to wearing againt this year? Do tell!

That's it for now, my friends... enjoy your day! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’•

Tailoring Simplified: The Instant Button®

A personal 'go to' item in my wardrobe arsenal is the Instant Button®. I originally blogged about it here back in August of 2010, and have been using one ever since. Most of my jeans and pants end up being too large at the waist because I have to size up one to fit my hip/thigh area. I used to either wear a belt or have them tailored to fit until I discovered the Instant Button® (available for purchase here), which acts like a 'temporary tailor', allowing me to adjust the waistband of my jeans and pants to fit needle and thread required. They were invented by Dana Hanh Contey, who writes on her website:

"I am the mom inventor of the patent pending Instant Button®. Instant Button® is the original removable and reusable button that allows you to add or reduce your pants size instantly for that tailored fit, without requiring a belt or an alteration.

I designed the Instant Button® to solve the common problems that impact the waistline and therefore, the fit of the waistband. Whether you lose weight; you gained weight; you have that embarrassing gap in the back, or a missing button, the Instant Button® is your solution. No sewing needed.

No matter the situation, with Instant Button® is your solution. You will never need to use a safety pin for a perfect fit, again!

With thanks and kind regards,

Dana Hanh Contey
Mom Inventor & Founder"

So if you have the same problem with the fit of the waist on your jeans and pants like I do, then definitely give the Instant Button® a try...highly recommend! ๐Ÿ’—

#TBT: Take Me to the Center of the Universe

Thought I'd share a little 'Throwback Thursday' for today. ๐Ÿ˜Š
This was my trip to the 'Center of the Universe', that I wrote about back in August of 2015...

Last month my parents (who are visiting from Florida) and I took a road trip over to
Wallace, Idaho, a quaint little town which also happens to be where "The Center of the Universe" is, or so they claim. (The mayor of Wallace officially proclaimed it so in 2004 after finding that the EPA followed logic along the lines of “if something can’t be disproven, it must be true”…)

A little more about Wallace (taken from their Facebook Page..."Wallace is a historic city in the Panhandle region of the U.S. state of Idaho and the county seat of Shoshone County in the Silver Valley mining district. Wallace sits alongside the South Fork Coeur d'Alene River (and Interstate 90) and the town's population was 784 at the 2010 census.

Wallace is the principal town of the Coeur d'Alene silver-mining district, which produced more silver than any other mining district in the United States. Burke-Canyon Road runs through historic mining communities – many of them now deserted – north and eastward toward the Montana state line. East of Wallace, the Route of the Hiawatha (rails-to-trails) and the Lookout Pass ski area are popular with locals and tourists.

The elevation is 2,728 feet (831 m) above sea level."

The drive over to Wallace from my home in Montana, is absolutely breathtaking, and is one that my family always enjoys everytime we make the trip to Shriners Hospital for Children in Spokane, for my son's clinic visits. The road we travel follows the Clark Fork River winding through the majestic mountains from Montana into Idaho...

If you ever get the chance to travel that way, you really should, as it is an utterly enjoyable, and completely unforgettable drive.

While in Wallace, we browsed the local shops, and ate lunch at 1313 Club Historic Saloon & Grill, where the food was fabulous, and the prices reasonable. The local shop owners are incredibly friendly, and offer goods ranging from vintage and antique items, to silver handcrafted jewelry, to snow sleds and antlers. There is definitely something for everyone.

After lunch we looked around the town a little more, and then we decided that we would each have our photos taken at "The Center of the Universe" before hitting the road again on our further travels. Here is yours truly...

*Banana Republic Shrug - Similar here and here
*Mossimo Supply Co. Lavinia Gladiator Sandals - Similar

So that's a little snippet of what I've been up to lately...what about you? How has your summer been? Have you taken any road-trips or vacations this year?
Please do share...I always love hearing from you!

That's it for now...have an amazing day, my lovelies!

Cooking Simplified: Old Fashioned Homemade Coffee Cake

This is a family favorite in the All Things Simplified household... so absolutely moist and delicious, not to mention incredibly easy to make. My best guess is that your family will love it too! ๐Ÿ’•

2 cups flour
2 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons shortening
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter
finely chopped nuts (optional)
**I actually double the topping since we like the coffee cake extra sweet at our house.

Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder together.
Add the eggs, milk, and shortening to the dry ingredients, and beat at high speed for 3 minutes.
Pour into a greased 9x13-inch pan.
Mix together topping ingredients.
Sprinkle the topping ingredients on top of the poured cake mixture in the pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for approx. 40 minutes or until it tests done.

That's it for now...I hope you have an absolutely glorious and blessed day!!! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’•

Now @ Sundance Catalog: Save an Extra 40% Off Outlet Items - My Personal Picks Plus Reviews & IRL Pics

Sundance is offering an extra 40% off their already reduced sale items during the
Summer Sale Event.
The extra savings will be applied in your cart at checkout until 8.17.17. This is an excellent offer, so if you're able to take advantage of it, then definitely do!

As I've mentioned many times before, I really love shopping at Sundance. Granted, many of their items can be quite spendy, but if you can catch them during a promo or on sale, they end up being reasonably priced, especially since the overall quality of their merchandise is excellent.

Click here to shop the deal, and take a peek at my personal picks and reviews below...

Sculptured Delight Dress

This was one of my very first Sundance purchases.
The website describes it as..."A dazzling full skirt dress, with slim-fit bodice, pintuck and pointelle stitching. Back keyhole detail with jewel button closure. Cotton/polyester/silk. Hand wash. Imported. Exclusive. Sizes XS (2), S (4 to 6), M (8 to 10), L (12 to 14), XL (16). Approx. 36"L."

This dress is really lovely in person. It is not only very flattering, but also comfortable to wear, and a decent length, too. As far as sizing goes, I would say it is comparable to J.Crew sizes.
I usually wear a 0 or 2 in dresses at J.Crew, and purchased the XSmall in this dress. Yes, I know the temps are sweltering outside, but if you can swing it, get this one and tuck it away for a couple of months. The heat won't last forever, and you'll be happy you have this one come fall. ๐Ÿ˜Š

World Journey Bag

From the website..."A small suede and leather zip bag with enough space for everyday or a journey around the world; inspired by classic European mountaineering bags. Double pouch pockets with snap buckles, zip top closure, adjustable webbing strap and inside zip pocket. Imported. Antiqued bronze hardware. 11"W x 2"D x 11"H."

This was another one of my first purchases, and the bag quickly became one of my favorites. The size and weight are perfect, I love the thick strap, and the quality is excellent. The chocolate colorway is currently sold out, but there are several other gorgeous colors to choose from.
Style It - Shop It... From My Closet

*Ashville Boots -
I own these boots in both colors, and actually just ordered a second 'back up' pair in the black.
Yes...I love them THAT much! They keep my feet very warm, and the hidden wedge gives a little 'lift', almost as if wearing a bit of a heel, but still very comfortable. Highly recommend these!!!
(This is another one to buy now & tuck away until fall. Excellent price with the extra 40% off, too!)

What I Wore...

Hands down one of my favorite jewelry pieces that I own.
The letters available are starting to get limited, so be sure to order quickly if your desired initial is still in stock. As I've mentioned before, I honestly wish now that I had bought several more of the charms for Christmas gifts before the letters I needed sold out.

What I Wore...

Do you plan to take advantage of the extra 40% off Outlet Sale Event at Sundance?
If so, what are you planning to get? Do tell!
