Cooking Simplified: Old Fashioned Homemade Coffee Cake

Are you looking for something new to serve your family for breakfast this weekend?
Never fear! I have the perfect recipe for you! 😊
This is a family favorite in the All Things Simplified household... so absolutely moist and delicious, not to mention incredibly easy to make. My best guess is that your family will love it too! 💕

Ingredients:

2 cups flour
2 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons shortening
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder

Topping:

1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter
Finely chopped nuts (optional)
**I actually double the topping since we like the coffee cake extra sweet at our place.

Directions:

Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder together.
Add the eggs, milk, and shortening to the dry ingredients, and beat at high speed for 3 minutes.
Pour into a greased 9x13-inch pan.
Mix together topping ingredients.
Sprinkle the topping ingredients on top of the poured cake mixture in the pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for approx. 40 minutes or until it tests done.

Let me know what you think if you decide to give it a try! Have a blessed day!!! 💕😊💕
